Farewell Faisal BaDughaish

So there I was, on the bridge between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, driving ehhh *just* above the speed limit. Cruise control. And umm.. half naked, trying to put on a pair of jeans while trying to keep in lane. Fun times. You may ask what the hell was going on. Let me explain…

What I was driving. Now Imagine me inside it, driving 120km/h while putting pants on.

Fun things happen in Saudi Arabia. You just have to keep an eye out for them. And be ready to act at short notice! This weekend, while in Bahrain for a little bit of fun in the sun at the Areen Water Park, a friend let me know that there would be a farewell party for Faisal BaDughaish taking place in AlKhobar later that night.

Faisal’s very well known in AlKhobar and lately, he’d decided to head over to the United States to continue his education. Personally, I’d last met him while at the Gags to Riches comedy show a few months earlier. His farewell party, aptly titled the “I’ll Be Back” parties, would take place at the Harley Davidson showroom in AlKhobar, and would feature some local comedians and a bit of local music.

I agreed to go down and shoot some pictures of the event. Given the fact that I was in Bahrain.. and wearing a swimsuit… and had like an hour to drive across the bridge to get to the party, I had to get a little creative with my time management. Hence hi-speed driving while changing.

I got there just in time to catch the first act in the comedy show…

First up was Yousef BaIsa, a newcomer to the whole comedy scene! He used to be in my ICS431 class ;P

Rahe- ahem ahem, I mean YOUSEF ;P brought up his debut act. His ‘baloot’ jokes were hilarious, but the paki-food hate was wayyy over the line bro..! (It was actually pretty funny, but I gotta represent!)

Recently crawling back from Europe, Firas AlOla MCed the show, kept things flowing smoothly and made sure we parked our cars correctly. Who WAS the guy with the white Honda anyways?

omg!! It’s Sherif Azab… but he has no glasses!! wow, he doesnt look like Sherif. Full disclosure: The reason he doesnt have glasses on is because he was with me at Areen Water Park in Bahrain earlier in the morning, and in a moment of intense touchy-feeliness, I seemed to have knocked it off him :=(

There was like a flag thing. And people were doing this writing thing. Where, you know, they write messages with the marker thing. Don’t wash it Faisal!

I had to leave the party at this point, given my prior engagement to be at another party later that night… sorry I couldn’t stay for the whole show guys, but I had a great time!!
