Destination: Egypt

Every once in a while, you do something so retardedly spontaneous that even you look back in shock and wonder if it all happened. Egypt was one of those times. During a comedy tour in Jeddah in April, Sherif Azab, a comedian and a good friend, told me he would be heading to Egypt in a few days for a massive comedy show. He invited me to come along. Admit it Sherif, you never thought that I’d actually DO it :P

So there I was, a week to go till the comedy show in Egypt. No ticket. And no visa. What followed was an ill planned out trip to the Embassy in Riyadh (thanks for letting me crash at your place Faraz!) and a bit of online booking magic (yey for Expedia!) and I was ready for my first trip to AFRICA!

Thanks for letting me crash on your couch dude. You can stalk him here!

I did get a chance for some diversions though. Used my time to visit Old Dir’iya, an ancient city on the outskirts of Riyadh.

Quite honestly, I never really thought that I’d end up in Egypt. I’ve had the dream to go there for so long that I always thought it would remain that. It wasn’t until 4 days before I flew out, when I walked out of the Egyptian embassy in Riyadh with a visa in hand that it finally hit me.

I was going to see the pyramids.

I envy you for being old and capable and rich enough to travel everywhere! Haha, I saw the pyramids in my dreams when I saw the ones you uploaded on Flickr. 0_o HAHA. Weird eh? :P
Once I am old and done with Uni, I am so heading out to see the world. :D

Well, I didn’t really spend too much this trip except for some tickets and vacation days!

But yes, I highly recommend just getting out and traveling. Doesn’t really matter where. You learn a lot and meet some great people…

… and every now and then you get mugged… but its all part of the experience :P
