Egypt: A Story of Comedy and History

As I mentioned in some of my earlier posts, the LOL Tour was not the first time I toured with Ahmed Ahmed and Maz Jobrani. The first time I met them was in Egypt, in April 2009, during the Egypt’s First Comedy Rumble Tour. My next few posts will be my thoughts about being a touring photographer for the first time.

I’d like to go about this in a much more organized manner, this time around so I’ve broken down my trip into smaller posts from the very beginning.

Destination: Egypt

The story of my spur of the moment decision to go to Egypt.

Nothing Like a Little Flying

Dammam to Cairo is only a 3 hour flight. But include the fact that I don’t plan things out, coupled with Sherif Azab as a traveling companion and we’re in for some insanity!

A Lifelong Dream

I keep a list. Of all the things I want to do before I die. Visiting the pyramids of Egypt was one of them. Not just the pyramids at Giza, mind you. I was more interested in the step pyramid and tombs of Saqqara and the bent and red pyramids of Dahshur. I finally got to live that dream. And a surreal experience it was…

Virgin Promotion

Yes I know what that title made you think of… you dirty, dirty people :P This is the story of the first time I met the celebrities of the comedy tour at a Virgin megastore in Cairo during a publicity event. It was an amazing group of people and you could already tell this was going to be an amazing weekend.

The Cairo Shows

Two shows . Back to back. In one of the most populated cities in the world. It doesn’t get any better than this!

Comedy at the Pyramids

I’ll be honest. When I went to the pyramids 2 days before, I thought that would be the best thing to happen to me that weekend. I was wrong. I went to the pyramids again…. this time with my favorite comedians in the world! Life is good.

Alexandriaaaaaa

Ah Alexandria! Just a few hours out of Cairo, but you’d think you were in a different continent. This is the story of the comedy show by the Mediterranean.

Farewell: Egypt

With our flight later in the afternoon, me and Sherif plan out some last minute sightseeing (well, it was mostly eating) before saying goodbye.
