Very interesting post. I’m an expat here in Saudi but in Jeddah and I grew up here and I’ve never tried duning. Thanks for the inspiration. Now I’ll try to search for available places to do this.

I pulled out the big guns! It was the 5DII in a secure backpack with a 25-105mm f/4L IS. It was not the place to change lenses so a general purpose would have to do.

The 5DII is weather sealed so it handles the dust pretty well!

Not sure if the 1.8 or “one eight” as legend goes is a weakling some are 4×4.

Great post, and fabulous shots! I agree about the art of the tracks, and I always enjoy a mini-linguistics lesson along the way.

I'm glad I went and made tea after I first saw this in my google reader because when I came back the photos were showing! They are “bestest” in BIG though

I was just thinking of the disconnect of the man with his traditional clothes jumping an ATM when you graciously declined the niqabi on an ATM photo. Interesting, as is the sight of the sea in the background.

Is there a family section, or is gender specific ATM co-existence on the same dune halal?
